Cubits - SOLD
Cubits wasn't quite sure what it wanted to be when it grew up. It experiemented a bit and tried on a few styles before settling into its final form. Starting out with just red and navy, black eventually was added to provide a little more contrast with the light maple.
Another "basket illusion". It's first turned on a lathe. Then a special tool is used to create "beads" which form the series of rings starting at the center and moving out to the edge. Each ring is then subdivided into segments using a woodburning tool. Finally, the pattern is added by hand with India ink markers which are light-fast and non-toxic.
Measures 7" in diameter at its widest, 12 inches from the base to the top of the finial. 51 rows and 120 burned segments per row.
