Tartaruga - SOLD

Tartaruga is fun little fella. Slow and steady turtle on top, mesmerizing checkered rows underneath. Another "basket illusion" effort.
 
Another "basket illusion". It's first turned on a lathe. Then a special tool is used to create "beads" which form the series of rings starting at the center and moving out to the edge. Each ring is then subdivided into segments using a woodburning tool. Finally, the pattern is added by hand with India ink markers which are light-fast and non-toxic.
 
Plate measures 7" in diameter. 26 rows and 144 burned segments per row.
